Check engine light

Hi! My 91 240SE station wagon runs fine. But the check engine light would flick on in the middle of smooth running. It went away after the engine stopped. Restart, and the light is gone not allowing me a chance to check the error code. Recently, it start doing "flick on" and "flick off" in the middle of smooth running! Should I be concerned? Thanks!
