Spray starter fluid into the throttle body. If it starts & dies, then the problem is fuel related otherwise it is probably ignition related.

Check for pressure on the fuel injection rail. After recently trying to start the car, gas should skirt out under pressure when you loosen fitting. (obviously be careful when you do this). If it doesn't then there is a problem with the the fuel delivery.
