Rebuilt engine starting problems!? Help Please. 120-130

I had a simular problem. I had taken my distributor out and put it back in. Started the car and BANG!!! Wired the plug wires wrong and the spark ignited the fuel while the exhaust valve was opened. I then got the plug wires in the right order and the engine would not start. I had to play around with the distributor for awhile before it ran again. Another thing... is everything pluged in?
