Make your own 200 1984

The reason you cannot see how to open the connector is that, as I see in your picture, that it is not only already open but the lid pieces are not present.

Re-routing with new wires can be done for these wires:

Red to the alternator.

Black to the oil pressure sensor.

Yellow to the water temp sender. The other sender, ETC, has a 2-wire connection.

Blue/yellow to the starter. Note that the starter has two spade lugs, be careful to use the correct one.

The route for the new wires does not need to be the same as before. The two for the alternator side run across the firewall, along the RH fender, and then to their destination, leaving a lot of alsck to allow for engine movement.

The other two, similarly along the firewall and LH fender, etc.

However, the problem may exist inside the main harness. In there are the leads to the injectors, coil, and more. You will need a replacement harness, and I recommend that you contact Dave Barton for source and assistance.
