Problem with backup lights 200 1986

I noticed yesterday morning when leaving for work in the pitch dark, that when I put my sedan into reverse, I didn't have any backup lights showing me the way. When I moved the automatic trans selector rearward just a 1/4" or so, they came on. Moving the selector forward that 1/4", they went out again. Is there an adjustment to the backup light switch or does it just need to be replaced? Where is it and how do I get to it?

Thanks.
