My son, not being satisfied with one 122S (a ’67), picked up another one on the weekend. It is a very nice 1969 model which has spent its entire life in BC. I had the pleasure of driving it from Nanaimo, BC to Kelowna, BC on Sunday. I know that the 1969 and 1970 models were not exported to the States so info on this car may be a little scarce. However I’m sure there’s someone on this forum who knows these models, and if so I would like to hear from them.
The ’69 has some interesting features (which I guess Volvo took from the 140 series) such as dual braking system with redundant lines to each front caliper, a brake booster between the master cylinder and the pedal, a collapsible steering column, and a locking steering wheel. This car also has some other upgrades such as retractable front seat belts that are aftermarket. It would be nice to learn what was standard on this year, what was factory optional, and what some PO has done.
The engine is a B20 which, according to the vendor, is from a 1974 140. He didn’t do the swap himself but was told this by the PO. I’d like help in identifying this engine. The engine number is as follows: 49 (Cast) 8035 (stamped on 1st machined surface) 2419 (stamped on 2nd machined surface). The VIN is 133441 314362.
Thanks for the help.
