welding question 140-160

For basic household needs. Mig is the best all around. Stick welding is cheapest to buy but you would have to be damn good to do body work with a Stick.

Mig is easier to run a bead over Stick. Mig is easy to , 'fake it ' with. Take the course. you will be years ahead of yourself them if you fumbled through it alone.

For under $1000 you can set yourself up with a 110V Mig and Argon gas unit.

This is what I have http://www.millerwelds.com/products/mig/millermatic_135/

It's a bit tough for thin sheet like car stuff but doable. I have cut , moved and rewelded Axle Perches and I have welded in temperary patches on exhaust sytems. So it's versitile
