If you could find a Consumer Reports from 15 years ago, it would be interesting to see what they rated highly, and how many of those wonderful cars are still on the road today. It would also be intersting to see what they had to say about your 91 Volvo that has apparently been good enough for you to keep around for a long time and THEN pass on to your daughter.
My point? Take Consumer Reports with a grain of salt, especially if you are a person that drives the same car for many years and are able to do much of the "patchin'-up" yourself that it requires along the way.
Of course, this is opinion only.
