Wrong Power Steering Fluid Used...Worry?

The previous owner of my '82 filled the power steering unit up with regular STP power steering fluid. I'm going to change it out, but I'm concerned about any possible damage to the system. It works fine and there are no leaks.

Should I be worried?

Also, how hard is it to disconnect the tie rod ends so I can install new power steering rack boots? The manual calls for a special puller, but is this needed?

Thanks!!
