Hello Everyone,
Today's BIG project was the removal of the transmission, etc to access the main seal for replacement. I had help from Rich, the mechanic and everything seemed to go well, although slow.
I'm in charge of preparing things for Thursday's activities when all the parts should be collected and we can tackle reassembly. A few questions. First, I can't seem to get the burnt on lacquer off the crank with lacquer thinner. I see a recommendation in the FAQ's for Crocus cloth (whatever that is) or fine steel wool. I'd like to hear from the BB concerning how best to clean the surface off to prepare it for the new seal.
Also if anyone has any real bright ideas to either help assembly, or keep us from doing something foolish, I'd love to hear. Thanks very much.
Marty Wolfson
