Scorch,

I had a set of the HF spring compressors and used them for several strut insert changes. While I never had a problem with them, I felt as was pressing my luck to continue to use them. I bought the Sears threaded Acme rod, forged end, USA made set and dumped the HB compressors. The Sears tool is much stonger, much better quality and the sliding end pins really hold on to that strong and potentially dangerous spring. As far as this job goes, I'd use the best tool I could afford, either borrow the AZ tool for free or get a Sears compressor set.
