960 timing question 900

there was a bullettin about tweaking the cam timing to smooth out a fluctuating idle. That's all I remember, I can look it up next time I'm at the dealership. I don't think it was as much as 4 degrees though. I knew a tech who tried it on a '99 S80 T6, and really screwed it up, idle became horrible and check engine light was on for a CVVT (continuous variable valve timing) solenoid code, retimed the engine, and all it needed was an air mass meter.
