Lower evaporator cover woes 900 1991

Thanks for the information Steve. I had read that FAQ, but appreciate your help. I managed to get it back together. There were two problems; a flange on the passenger side not aligned and getting the drivers side to align and pop in place. Some points that would be might be helpful to have added to the FAQ.

1. My 91 940 turbo had more than 9 screws on the cover. All were evident with the exception of one on the side of the cover (near the top) on the passenger side at the firewall and buried in the foam padding. Most of the screws faced downward, but this one faces outward toward the passenger door. Because I did not see it, I broke the plastic when pulling the cover down.

2. When putting on, make sure you alight the passenger side flange at the firewall (inside), or you never get the cover pushed back. There is a flange (rib if you will) on that side. You are best to rotate the cover into that flange first and then worry about the driver's side.

3. Where the cover has a small bulge for the evaporator pipe at the rear of the cover, is just enough to get the soul our your shoe to help push it into place. Once I did that with a bit of working the cover back and forth at the front, it popped in place (what popped in place I'll never know).

4. Oh, and don't use a rubber mallet to pursuade the cover or you'll crack it and have to repair it.
