Another problem with the reverse detent sleeve. 200 1983

You're saying its hard to pull up the reverse detent lever because the wires are in the way???

Because that is what happened to me when I pulled the tranny on my beater. The thing is, I really didn't care about how the hell it went back together, but I can see your concern. The reason it did that is because the wires aren't straight in the shift lever, there's slack so they kinda bend over and don't leave room for the lever to slide up to get into reverse.

Not positive, but a good thing to try and do is look where the wires enter into the stickshift, and pull them out to the point where they stil make contact with the overdrive button, but no more, that way they're not in the way.

I think the wires enter about halfway down into the shifter.

Post back with questions,

Smith
