Removing AW71L from my 940 - need advice 900 1991

I will be removing the AW71L auto transmision from my 91 940 sedan next week. I've had a look at the location and size of the bolts and most things look reasonably straightforward. However, I do have a couple of questions for those who have been there done that.

There are 2 bolts (18mm I think) on top of the transmission - one bolt on either side of the crankshaft sensor. How do I get at these bolts? From the top or underneath? Spanner? Socket with a universal joint? I tried fitting a socket with a universal joint in there but the firewall was too close and there was not enough room.

Does the crankshaft (RPM) sensor need to come off? I can't see how to get anything down there to remove the bolt? Is it a 10mm bolt?

If anyone has any other words of advice (except for "DON'T DO IT!!!) I would be glad to hear from you.

Thanks
Brad
