My 64 122S red light glows dimly in my dash all the time even though the lights are strong and everthing seems to be charging fine. I don't know, maybe the generator in mine is on it's way out...so I'll be interested to see the responses to your question. Of course the first thing to check whenever you have a charging problem is the tightness of the fan belt.
