humming trunk 700

I noticed a sound coming from my Volvo today and traced it to the trunk. The deal is when I open the trunk the sound goes away. When I close the trunk it makes a humming sound. The sound is strongest around the lock and trunk lights. When I turn the car off the sound goes away. Could this be the locking motor in my trunk? Why would it start making this sound? I have my power antenna set to always be lowered so I don't think it is that motor. Any ideas or similar experiences?
