B18 engine knocking, plus brake booster woes 120-130 1968

Yes, I thought about the Fibre timing gear, but since it seems to be in the one cylinder only...

I took the car out for a drive last night, and the noise seems greatly diminished. I have been running Mobil 1 10W-30 Synthetic oil, and I recently added a bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer- that 1 qt bottle of thick syrup. (Of course, I first took out a quart of the 10W-30) Maybe the increased viscosity is helping? Anyway, I think the problem my be in the cam or lifter- the bottom ends on these B18's seem very strong. I also plan to install a mechanical oil pressure gauge soon.

My other new problem is the brakes...if I park the car for a few days, I loose all brake fluid...but there are no puddles. I then have to add fluid and bleed...however, only the front part of the brake fluid resevoir drains- the back always has fluid in it. I unhooked the booster, as the engine was sucking brake fluid through the booster line (I had a clear line, so I could see it!)...maybe the fluid is leaking out and collecting in the booster? The car brakes OK with no power brakes, I may just unhook the booster from the system entirely. Incidentally, its a hydraulic booster- mounts on the firewall separate from the master cylinder.
