My recent idle problems are mostly solved, having replaced the throttle position switch.
The idle is smoother now, with less "hunting" for the correct speed, but I now have hesitation when first pressing on the accelerator, a slight pause after which the engine runs just fine.
The Idle Air Control Valve and many other parts have been replaced during this recent tune up/resurrection (if curious, see post #http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=605225 for details)
I believe that the TPS needs to be adjusted further, and I'm curious as to what the subtlties of this adjustment are.
When I installed the switch a few days ago, I rotated it (clockwise, from the face of the switch, if I recal correctly), and then rotated it counter clockwise until I heard a "Click." I then tightened it, I believe, close to this postion.
I see that the slots on the switch allow for a bit of rotational adjustment.
What is the desired location: the position just after the click is heard, or am I to rotate it further?
How subtle is this adjustment?
Is it a question of trial and error and fiddling until the hesitation problem goes away?
Finally, should I be attempting to set the base idle by grounding a connection of some sort? How is this done? I've seen conflicting info about this, some of which suggests the idle is not adjustable on this car.
