1. Should be ok, you really don't even need to raise the front end.

2. You will have to have jackstands at the rear jacking points, and you will have to use the jack under the diff to support it.

3. I've always had it holding the diff, and pointing to the rear of the car. There was enough room for me.

4. The coils should come out too. They are not bolted in at the top, so just remove the coil spring and the trailing arm as a unit. If you leave it in there, it may stay up there for a while, and then it may fall on you.

5. I like to keep some things attached to the axle while I remove others. For instance, keep the torque rods attached while you remove the trailing arms, and vice versa. It will help you to work with the axle. If you removed everything at once, and the axle fell off your jack, it could snap the brake lines off.
