Clutch 240 dl 82 200

On your torque rod bushings you need to know what style your rods are, I just went through this. Apparently 81-85 models could use one of two styles of rod, one uses "cylindrical" bushings with a metal sleeve and the other uses what I have seen referred to as a "butterfly" bushing which is rubber only. If your arm takes the metal sleeved bushing then you either need to air-chisel or press them out.

If you have the latter type the urethane bushings will not fit, but there is an up-side to this! I just removed the rod and used a propane torch to set the rubber on fire for a minute or so then the old bushing is real easy to poke out with a stick, screwdriver, etc. Once the old bushing is out, and rod allowed to cool, just take the new bushings, lube them with soapy water, and squeeze them in with a bench vise. I would guess that once your vehicle is jacked up you'll spend no more that 30 minutes per side as long as not bolts are frozen in.

Good luck,

Justin
