rear main seal replacement 200

I did a clutch & rear main last weekend. Jack stands under the jacking points raised the car 17 inches. I rented a tranny jack. Even lowered, tranny wouldn't clear by several inches to get it out from under the car, but I set it off on a piece of cardboard and drug it out with room to spare. I suspect there is room to do the seal with the tranny still under the car, but I wouldn't want to be that cramped.

Be prepared to drop the down-pipe from the exhaust manifold, and possibly loosen the top bolts on the shift-lever support so that it can "droop" and clear the rear of the transmission hump in the body.

Tom
