Pricing for 164's and other questions 140-160 1970

The 164 is a nice car. They're a little more work than a 140, or
at least they are the same work but when they need the work done they're
harder work. The clutch cable is a good example. Plus, for parts
that are 164 specific you've got a somewhat harder time finding the
parts.

The biggest problem to 164s is just that they are so darned rare.
A primo 69-71 with no body rot and a manual transmission won't cost
a lot of money but there are probably only 500 left in north america.
Good luck finding someone with one they want to get rid of. If you
broaden your search to automatic transmissions you'll have a somewhat
easier time. I'm hoping to find a good one and transplant my car's
powertrain into that one.

For example, I've been looking for any 164 in good shape for about
2 years. I did find a 1970 with a manual bit it was in rough shape
and even now it has some poorly repaired crash dammage.

Of course, if you do find a perfect car, it won't cost more than
3,000. Hopefully I find it first, though...
