in-tank pre-pump mounting? 200 1989

It seems to me kinda unfair you didn't get that bracket. Can't advise you to remove it from the old pump because your old one is most likely the VDO. It is different between the VDO pump and the AC Delco pump (ScanTech?). That happened to me too, but as my supplier was the pick and pull I had no one important to complain to. Not advice, here, but I felt somewhat confident letting it hang from the pipe; the fuel line I used seemed to be very firmly attached without clamps. Been about 10K of daily driving now... I have some drawings from the green manuals and perhaps a photo or two if you're wondering what that bracket looks like.
