No go!! 700 87

Just backed out of the driveway (87 740 180K), putting it into first (auto), would not shift. I tried to see if a tape or something had gotten in the way. I put it into neutral, tried again. Nada

Lever has no resistance at all now. Goes into all gears without all the transmission clickin. What gives? Thankfull it's stuck in neutral, pushed to the curb, with the motor running. Thank god the neighbours didn't see!

Any thoughts. I remember looking at trans linkage a while ago and saw they just joined in by some sort of a pin. It looked like a rivot, but open on the other end. I tried removing it but it would not budge.

Could it be the linkage or something in the gear shifter???
