Re: Confused 200 82

No, they dumped the 240 name during the early eighties. I don't know what the specific reasons were, but essentially you could just say "I drive a Volvo Turbo". Or whatever. It doesn't sound too unusual to say that, I suppose.

For example, I had a "Diesel" for a long time. That's all it was called, although it was really a 265 with the GL package. And when I ordered parts, the dealer always wanted to know the REAL model, since they didn't actually ever use the DL/GL/Turbo names.

THe Turbo was badged exactly as what it was: TURBO. That's it.

Then we went BACK to the 240 series in 86, but then they were only called 240s, not seperate numbers for sedans and wagons (i.e. 244, 245). There was still a DL/GL. In 91 that changed again. They dumped the DL/GL, added an SE, and then did something else in 92. I think 92 had a GL model maybe... 93 had only base model and the Classic? Who knows. Who cares. The Turbo is a 240 turbo. A 242, 244, whatever. It's the same car.
