Intermittently Fails to Start 700 1988

Looking for help with a 740GLE non-turbo that fails to start intermittently (once every couple of weeks). Normally runs great, then at times just fails to start. Eventually if you leave it sit for a while itcatches. Engine cranks strong plus get spark, but no catch; not even a sputter. I have changed the coil, rotor, cap, plugs, & wires. The only other symptom that maybe related is the ignition key sometimes fails to turn the door buzzer off after removal. I changed the electrical portion of the ignition swition, although not the key mechanism itself. At a loss-any ideas? I am thinking that the key mechanisim is at fault and not making all the required connections reliably-like the fuel pump, etc. The switch is expensive and I am tired of guessing wrong. Thanks John
