Either the car is new to you, or the dealer has been servicing the car and resetting the light before the 5000 miles/8000 km mark.

You'll find it described in the owners manual. There's a rubber plug in the clear lens next to 0 MPH or 20 kM/h that you pull out of its hole (unless someone already pushed it into the hole). Then take a small screwdriver to press the button all the way. Don't be surprised if it's hard to push - it's made to break free with a snap.
