Re: Where's the overdrive solenoid located? 200 89

I haven't replaced the solenoid on my tranny (yet) but the Bentley manual is very clear on the operation. It shows the solenoid to be on the right (driver's) side of the trans nearly centered above the pan. It mounts vertically on a small flat "shelf" on the side of the trans. It's a little crowded there. The manual says to replace the O-rings when R&R the solenoid. It also says to route the wiring harness back through the protective sleeve and reconnect the connector. It seems pretty straight forward. Are you sure the solenoid is the problem? There are several potential electrical problems which could prevent engaging the OD. Check the Archives for more help. This is a really great web site!

If you don't have the Bentley manual, I can recommend it. Just one repair job will pay for it.
