I like the Michelin MXV's I have on my 87 745T Excellent ride, handling and long lasting. But Expensive at $150 apiece. Over the years I had several different brands. Goodyears are nice depending on the model but short life, due to soft compounds. BF Good for Nothings say's enough. My first 242 Turbo came with Pirelli P6's great tire. Tried a Goodyear NCT (west german manufacture) Not the US made, Super Tire, loved them. The US version has a different tread design. Don't even know if still available. There really isn't one all around tire for year around use in New England. You will need a set of snows for the winter. I drive the swedish tire Gislaves for the winter. I like the results I've had with them. It comes down to what type or ride, handling, life expectancy and price you will decide on. One thing I have learn about tires is you get what you pay for.
Other Volvo owners will chime in on you post. Read and take in their advice and experence. With all the different types of tires they drive you should get a large variety of opinions. Good luck!
