Trailer Hitch 200

Just replaced both sets of wires for the tailgate hinge on our 89 245 only to discover that while the wires were not healthy it was really the ground wires on the hinges causing problems. :(

Anyway. Once upon a time IPD had a gorgeous trailer hitch. Like 3" round pipe that was elegantly curved and fed a 2" receiver. Sadly they don't have that anymore.
The only hitch I can find is ugly (oh well) but has a 1 1/4 receiver. What the heck? So now you need an adapter for 2" anything (like a four bicycle rack) which pushes the rack out another 8" which really helps put a ton more torque on the hitch, pushes the bikes further out of the slipstream (which makes a huge difference when the speed limit is 85 MPH) and makes me wish my wife was no longer in the Army and I could just get a tubing bender and make those components that made these cars the legends that they are.

Ok, now that I have finished my rant does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Andrew
