I too have that 30 second rough idle at start up... 200

I've had it for 2 years now. Drives me nuts, have done everything I can think of. cleaned all electrical connections. replaced intake manifold gasket, cleaned throttle, cleaned IAC, swapped in used IAC, tested signal from temp sensor, adjusted valves, checked for vac leaks, checked flame trap, replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor, checked for leaking injectors. Tried the "next size up" hotter spark plugs. Swapped in known good coil. swapped in known good AMM.

Since my ECU was replaced by the dealer many years ago with a later model that does not use the cold start valve, I swapped in a later intake manifold and fuel rail to eliminate the cold start valve as a possible source of air/fuel leakage.

Compression is excellent, vacuum is a steady 15 (low but expected given the A-cam).

my mechanic's response was "it doesn't like the ethanol in the gas." my 940 with rex/regina seems to cope with the ethanol just fine. as does a friend's 1988 245 with LH 2.2 injection. so I don't know what to think about that.

it does smooth out after about 30 seconds, and the car otherwise runs great.
