Question about correct header pipe for 89 240 with EGR 200 1989

Hi,
I've got an 89 240 with EGR. I'm a little confused about the header pipe selection as the EGR pipe actually comes from the exhaust manifold and not from the header pipe. One salesperson I talked to said that the EGR pipe should come from the header pipe but I may have led him down that path in the way I asked the questions. Pictures of the EGR pipes are hard to find. So my first question is whether this is typical for the EGR and whether I need the EGR version of the header pipe?

From looking at previous posts, it appears that the EGR pipes also have a spin flange at the cat end. My car is currently off to the store- how do I tell if I have the spin flange?

Thanks!
Lyle
