Heat 200 1981

I have an 81 245 wagon. The thermostat is broken and it constantly pushes out hot air. It was alright in winter, but on these sunny days, its enough to kill you. I've been told that fixing the thermostat is complicated/expensive, so I'm looking for a way to just make it stop moving so much air. Can I just disable the fans or something? I don't care if I have no heat control, my only setting currently is "scorching".
