Bungee cord did the trick (pics) 1800 1967

I kind of like this little car. Did about 450 miles yesterday with no speedometer and no tach and a bungee cord around the shifter to keep it from jumping out of 4th. On the plus side, I did have a water temp gauge, oil pressure gauge and the OD was working. Wife said we ran about 75-80 most of the trip.

About 30 miles out of Phoenix, the car starts running like crap and cutting out intermittently. It doesn't completely quit so I drove it a way like that. Every time it started running poorly, the tach (which had been living at zero) started jumping around so I figured it was something electrical. Finally pulled off the road and cut the white wire off the coil. Problem solved and the car ran great the rest of the way home.

Here's some pics. I put rags in my kid's and my nephew's hands to knock the dust off the car before the trip. Wife trailed me in the 740T.

Got this cute little camera that takes lo-res movies so I uploaded this little 30-second clip. Hope this works.

On the road
