I am in the process of reinstalling the turbo on my 92 740 - after I have replaced, checked, torqued, lubed every gasket, bolt, clamp, and hose imaginable. I was trying to install the turbo with the oil drain pipe already attached when I nicked the drain line gasket (o-ring) and had to quit for the day. What is the general thought, should I reinstall the turbo with the drain pipe in place or install it after it is bolted to the manifold and exhaust? Seems it would be easier to line up the turbo on the exhaust manifold studs without having the drain pipe there. I struggled with for a half an hour before I killed the gasket (o-ring). Does anyone use a little perma-tex on the drain gasket (o-ring) for a better seal?
Also what do you guys use for lock nuts on the turbo to exhaust manifold studs? Can I use a high grade nut and a lock washer? The volvo nuts are 6 bucks a piece!
