I'm going to look at a '87 760T tomorrow. The guy only wants $200 for it because he says the tranny has totally stopped working. I want to try and limp the thing 25 miles back home. He said he broke something off the tranny on a bump in the road, had it welded back on, and it drove OK for a few weeks but started making "noises" before totally refusing to move.
I'm obviuosly going to bring a few quarts of type F out there, just in case the guy is really stoopid. What I'm wondering is have any of you had complete failure in an AW transmission like this? I find it hard to believe that the thing would just stop working altogether unless it's really low on fluid.
