Stock boost pressure? 700 89

I have been running 7 psi without any knocking. I bumped it up to 8.5 over the weekend and the car is much more driveable although now there is some slight knocking at full boost. I'm currently running 87 octane. I have two questions:

1.) What is the stock boost pressure supposed to be?

2.) What can I safely (reliably) run the car at?
