how frequently does one need to clean the flame trap on a b230?

I have a 94 940 with around 170k miles, and I had the flame trap cleaned at 140k when I purchased the car, 3 years ago. It was quite blocked up at that point. I was recently under the car changing the oil and noticed a fair amount of oil leakage from under the intake manifold.
