740 sedan tail lights on a 240 200 1986

Has anyone had success installing tail lights from a 87-88 740 sedan on a 86 240 sedan (or similar years)? I found some 740 units in a junkyard, they look the same but the connector pin out looks different and the fog light has been removed (not a big deal). So I'm wondering if they would work if I swapped the circuit board?
