AC work 200 1990

So the superheated Maryland area temperatures are making me really wish I had some AC in my 240. I still have the R12 system, but it doesn't work (surprise).

Can someone give me a straightforward, basic troubleshooting process to figure out where it leaks (if it does), and afterwards how I can convert it to R134A?

Make it detailed if you can - I don't even know where the high/low pressure ports are on the compressor. I do have a basic understanding of how the system works from my college thermo courses. Maybe just a list of things to buy, then a list of things to do. I want to get this thing fixed efficiently and very very quickly.

Thanks
Mike
