Hi all! I have a 1990 760 turbo I have been fixing up to sell. I sold it last week to a nice family and on their way home the transmission acted up so bad, they had to have it towed!! What are the odds of that?!
When I took the car back, it runs fine for 5 minutes, then it requires more of a high rev to get the car going, but it still goes. Apparently the tranny had a small leak which drained the fluid out of it, then stop and go traffic on the drive home killed it. Would this condition kill the torque converter first, or the rest of the tranny?
Not taking any chances, I picked up a good used transmission to put in.
Here is the problem, I just noticed that the used unit does not have the torque converter!! Would the old torque converter be fine to use? Given the information I provided on how the tranny died, is it even feasible to consider reusing the old torque converter? I dont know how strong the torque converters are. Thanks a lot for your help!!
