Whats wrong, hopefully something simple..... 200 1985

So I have decided to buy the 85 240 turbo, now it is time to fix it. Here is what I know right now. Turbo might not be bad, the guy I bought it from didnt know jack didly about cars. He is a car dealer and took it in on trade from an old guy...car was taken care of very well, 86000 miles, interior is perfect. Now for the motor. popped the hood to see all the intake stuff taken apart at the front of the passengers side. The fuel distributor and the plate thingy is just sitting there. The guy said that the problem is over there. What goes wrong over there? Also, I pulled off the house from the turbo to intercooler, and there was oil all over the inside. pulled the hose from intercooler to throttle body, oil in it but not too much, no oil in throttle body!! Checked the engine oil, barely any on the dipstick, put a quart in it and the level was full to the crosshatches on the dipstick. I heard somewhere that a turbo 240 will eat a quart of oil in between oil changes, so maybe it isnt leaking too much oil, but then again there was oil in the tubes. Put a good batter on the car and tried to start it (didnt hook up the fuel distributer crap, but did hook the intercooler back up). Fuel pump kicked on an the car fired right up, but then died after a half millisecond, repeat car only ran for a millisecond. tried two more times, same thing. Someone please help me lol! Thanks brickboard, you all have helped me soo much in these last couple months.

is it cold where you are?? if it is, it could be a cpr problem. the cold start injector will spray for a few seconds during cranking but then stop. maybe its just running on this gas, and the mixture is not being richened up for cold starts, which is what the cpr does.

So just how much "fuel distributor crap" is left hanging? I suggest you hook everything up the way it goes and then see what it does.

The fuel distributor is fully hooked up, just sitting ontop of the intake box thing....Do you think the distibutor is messed up?

Make sure that the airflow sensor plate and the fuel distributor are sitting flat and level. If it fires over and falls on it's face I would by-pass the ballast resistor and see if that helps. The resistor should be in the right corner behing the strut tower at the firewall. It should have one wire going in and one wire coming out (blue in brown out), there should be a single terminal on one end and a double on the other, put both wires on the double and see if it will start.
