injector pigtails 200 1990

So, my latest escapade with the wife's car has me looking at replacing the wiring to the injectors. Spoke w/ the dealership, can only sell the entire harness ($650 or so), not the individual plugs/wires. I'm thinking of taking this on by clipping the wires and replacing a good amount of wiring on each pigtail. Any ideas on how I can get the old wires out of the actual plug (which plugs into the injector), then get the new wires in? Or should I not bother with that and just clip where they need to be replaced and hope there's enough room to get some kind of connection?

hi there, what is the problem, are the injectors not getting a signal? one suggestion is you pull a harness from the boneyard. or cut the ones you need from a junker so you have more room to solder/splice. most 1990 harness i see are in real good shape. and very cheap.

I wouldn't bother trying to get the wires in/out of the plug, which is likely to create more problems down the road. Cut off a few inches and splice in the replacements. Close the joints up with shrink tubing to make an airtight connection.

Both you guys are on the same track that I'm going. Splice and don't bother with the actual connections.

I think you can just splice the wires. I have a couple of injectors on my Porsche 944 replaced by the PO and they are spliced in and work fine.
