injector pigtails 200 1990

So, my latest escapade with the wife's car has me looking at replacing the wiring to the injectors. Spoke w/ the dealership, can only sell the entire harness ($650 or so), not the individual plugs/wires. I'm thinking of taking this on by clipping the wires and replacing a good amount of wiring on each pigtail. Any ideas on how I can get the old wires out of the actual plug (which plugs into the injector), then get the new wires in? Or should I not bother with that and just clip where they need to be replaced and hope there's enough room to get some kind of connection?
