Best replacement radiator 94 940 standard 900

I'm taking my 94 940 in for its 100,000 mile service and want to replace the radiator. My mechanic says there are many manufacturers of aftermarket radiators. I am planning on going with one of the plastic/aluminum models like OEM, but which brand? I don't know the spelling on the brands but i think nissen, bear (behr?) or others.

Which aftermarket radiator should I choose? Why? The FAQ does not seem to address this matter of choice but makes it clear that my car is past due for a replacement radiator.

    Either the Nissen AL-Plastic unit from an aftermarket supplier or a Blackstone OEM Volvo from www.borton.com. The Blackstones are superb.

      Is the Blackstone the stock radiator? When you wrote OEM that makes me think it is the same as a volvo unit.

      I decided to put in a volvo radiator. Price for the part is, I think, $301, about twice as much as a Nissen or some of the other aftermarket brands. But, since I expect to get another ten years or so out of the car it's cheap for the difference in price, when amortized over that length of time. This way I know I'll get at least 8 years or so out of it before I have to think about it again.

    I installed a Nissen brand radiator in my wife's '94 945T two years ago. It looks well built, plastic side tanks, aluminum core, and works as it should. Bought mine from fcpgroton.com. Search the other Brickboard advertisers for the best price.

    The "Volvo" brand radiator is made by a company by the name of Blackstone. Haven't seen these out there on an aftermarket basis, then again I haven't been looking.

      I've done searches and not been able to find a blackstone radiator other than Volvo.

    In my opinion, I doubt if there is a lot of difference. I have been on both ends of the $$ and both ends seem to fail. Presently I have a Nissen aluminum and plastic. Shop for the best deal, such as IPS in Boise or wherever. Just replaced the second all metal unit because the core was leaking after 5 years. Almost as costly to have a repair as to replace. Believe they are "wear items".
