Best Thermostat temp for florida driving 900

What temperature thermostat would y'all recommend for a b230f 4 cyl engine that will be driven exclusively in central florida?

I thought 82 deg Cel (180 Farenheit) would be best. Dealer parts guy said they always install 189 degree Farenheit thermostats.

Any brand you would recommend?

Is there advantages to those thermostats that have the little thingy that sits in the predrilled hole and rattles, allowing air to vent to the expansion tank?

thanks in advance

The stock thermostat should be fine. I think it's 95°C. And I believe that they all have the little vent hole thing.

I'm not a big fan of lowering engine temps even on a turbo car- the engine is designed to make power at a certain temperature. Lower temperatures change oil viscosity and reduce overall efficiency, as well as allowing a bit more moisture to collect in the oil. An engine that runs cold all the time builds up a LOT of water in the oil, and with it lots of sludge. A hotter engine drives off this moisture.

If your antifreeze is fresh, and properly mixed, and you're not leaking anywhere, there should be no issues requiring you to run the low-temp thermostat.

Factory standard for my 1994 940 is the 92C (198F) stat. The turbo models used a 87C (189F) stat. Volvo did not call for "summer" or "winter" thermostats, so if your cooling system is in good shape, the stock stat will hold the engine temperature where Volvo intended.
