Another road trip gone by without flaw! Oh, and crankcase pressure? 700 1985

Just completed a 500 mile road trip, including the car sitting 3 days in below 32F temps. Was very happy when i started her up this morning for the trip back (30F), crank crank *bwwoom*. Oh, and a nice 30mpg roundtrip!

Crank case pressure? One thing I did before I left (but went anyways!) was do a jiggle test. At idle, I can notice a *slight* vacuum. This vacuum does not seem to change at all, (or possibly go away) as I throttle up. The metal cap does not jiggle at idle, but it does somewhat when I throttle up. I assume this is a problem?

Not to be disrespectful or sound like I'm making fun of those of you who live in Warmer climates... But 30 degrees isn't all that cold....My experience with my brick and other cars is that they don't start to get affected by the cold until the thermometer starts hitting single digits...

at -10 Fahrenheit is when my 240 started to chug... it started but you could tell it was thinking otherwise.

I am curious in warmer climes do the cars act up when it gets near freezing?????

Just curious after sitting for an hour on the freeway in -10 f weather

with all the other cars that started today...

Hey Mark,,come on guy, volvo's are made in Swede, its gets cold there..climate that drop fast can produce unwanted moisture in rotor caps and fuse arrays,,,clean all 240 fuses and apply electra-grease, and use good rotor caps (not the cheap black color ones) this will help cold start problems...good luck

I wasn't complaining about how bricks start in the cold... I just was wondering how just hitting 32 degrees would have any effect on a car even if it had spent it's entire life in Saudi Arabia. I mean even my 92 Geo started up in -0 weather after sitting for about two weeks. I know some people want to curl up in a fetal position when they hit really cold weather but I never thought a brick would.

Oh, no problem at all. No, the car shouldn't have any issues with 30F. I was more expressing the fact that the car hasn't really seen that weather in its life, so when it finally DID see weather of that type, I was glad that the coolant mixture was right, no problems with the oil, etc etc. I'm not as experienced as you folks with that cold weather, and therefor didn't know what to expect when the car did get in freezing temps. I was hoping the there wouldn't be any problems. I was just glad of that fact!
