too much bounce! recommendations? 300 89

I need a recommendation or two regarding the springs/shock for this car. I want a stiffer ride without lowering the height of the car (I have a sharp incline to my driveway and sometimes the muffler will drag).

Should I keep the stock springs and get KYB, Boge, or bilteins, etc or replace the springs too? I really need to keep the stock height to prevent my muffler from falling off.

Also I need to replace the antenna mast. Do I have to use a genuine Volvo mast or can I use an aftermarket type and if so what brand?

thanks

tim

Tim-

Regarding this from your post:

Assuming you have a 244 with the rear fender mounted power antenna, like mine, maybe I can help. The first time I had to replace said mast I went to Volvo Parts Dept, paid around $30, it worked. Second time I went with an after-market store and it worked, but ONLY because of the very good instructions that came with the first.

I have a Radio Shack power antenna in my garage that will not properly fit my 240, the motor is not far enough below the fender anchor so it keeps the spare from storing securely.

There are often antenna masts on eBay, mostly from an after-market store.

They are probably OK, but it would be worth an email to find out if the instructions are included.

Good Luck,

Bob

/// You could adjust the ride with the shocks. There are air shocks that can adjust the height but I have never seen them on a Volvo. They would be the only way to keep the tailpipe from dragging when you back out, but leave the height unchanged.(air back down) If you permanently change the rear height that will change the alignment.

Most shock manufacturers have a range of shocks for each cars. Each level of shock for a given car has a "characteristic ride," soft to hard.

As I remember there was only one shock available for Volvo, regardless of the shock manufacturer.

The antenna depends on what part is broken.
