heater fan noise 200 1987

Im starting to hear noises from the heater fan. sounds like it could be the bearings or even the blades hitting the duct. its still pretty intermittent and i was wondering if anybody can tell me how long i have until the blower quits on me. thanks in advance.

The fan in my 90 was noisy from the time the car was new. Now, after 194K miles and ten years, it is time. Bought a replacement motor at PepBoys. With 7.50 shipping and outrageous state sales tax, just over $50. Now I just need to find the time to install it.

BTW, I had one 240 0wner tell me that it is a five year replacable item.

Re: heater fan noise 200 1978

I've replaced mine twice in 22 years. The first time the speeds burnt out one at a time. The second motor I bought from a junk yard and lasted 2 years. It made a noise ( bearings ) for about a year and then it seized. Perhaps that is the noise you are hearing also. I then bought a new replacement from Volvo for $160. Recently I noticed a guy on Ebay selling new ones for about $70.
